About

TextDet is an Android app that reads the text in a photo of a sign or a paper itinerary right on your phone, with no account and no internet needed. With Pro, it works as an itinerary scanner: scan several pages into one document, then search for any word in your library later. It can read text aloud sentence by sentence with the phone's system voices, offline. It reads signs in Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Devanagari scripts. To translate text from a photo, Pro adds translation between 59 languages. Each language pack downloads once and then runs on the phone, so it works as an offline translation app. The free version covers scanning, editing, search, tags and text exports, with no daily limit and no watermark. Pro costs $5.99 once, for life, with no subscription. Prices vary by country.
